Product Description
The LDGPS receiver will adjust the heading while driving so that strikes are still plotted correctly when the vehicle is not facing north.
For use on a boat, the LDCMP (electronic compass) is required so that the heading does not change when moving laterally.
The Boltek LD-250 Lightning Detector, with the included NexStorm Lite software, will display lightning strikes according to distance and bearing relative to the antenna location on your laptop or desktop computer. To add the visual enhancement of a Map overlay to the lightning strike display select the Map options in the above Display Software drop down menu. Note- the Lightning 2000 Map has an area with 2,000 mile radius and the NexStorm Map has an area with 750 mile radius. If the location of the antenna will be moving beyond the area of the Map additional Maps can be purchased in the "You May Also Like" section below.
50' feet of antenna cable included. To order additional cable and coupler (to connect two cables together), please reference the "May we also suggest" section below.
Within milliseconds of a lightning strike the detector beeps and your computer displays the strike location. The LD-250's direction-finding antenna measures lightning strike direction while the LD-250's receiver estimates distance from received signal strength. Advanced signal processing in software improves distance accuracy, reducing the effects of strike-to-strike variations in strike energy.
The LD-250 connects to your computer's USB or RS232 (COM) port making it suitable for use with both laptop and desktop computers. The LD-250 will even detect lightning when your computer is turned off. When the LD-250 starts beeping or the Strike light starts flashing you can turn on your computer to see where the storms are located.
LD-250 Lightning Detector has two built-in alarms: a Close Storm Alarm and a Severe Storm Alarm. The Close Storm Alarm will activate if a thunderstorm is detected closer than a preset distance. The Severe Storm Alarm activates if the number of lightning strikes per minute exceeds a preset limit.
The LD-250 will sound an alarm tone when either alarm activates. Front panel push buttons allow both the Strike tone and Alarm tones to be disabled.
The computer can also be configured to sound an alarm tone and/or pop up a notification window when an alarm activates. Alarm status is indicated by the color of the Close Storm distance circle and Severe Storm status indicator in the top left corner of the map window.
Ground shipping only. Shipment comes from Canada and may be subject to Import Duties and Taxes. Generally leaves the warehouse in 3-5 business days.
