  • Fixed issue daily and monthly rain not reporting with the WMR100.
  • Added fully functional French version.
October 18, 2006, Version 13.00p20
  • Fixed problem with non-response if Use Default Internet Connection (introduced in Version 13.00).
  • Fixed lock-up problems. No lock-up problems reported by any users with this new version.
October 16, 2006, Version 13.00p19
  • Fixed problem with WMR-968 and WMR-100 communication introduced on Version 13.00p18.
  • Fixed possible crashing problem.
October 11, 2006, Version 13.00p18
  • Fixed problem with WeatherFlash and Rapid Fire competing with each other's timing.
  • Fixed possible crashing problem.
  • Fixed problem with the Cable2 panel settings.
October 9, 2006, Version 13.00p17
  • Added support for the Oregon Scientific WMR-100 Weather Station.
  • Fixed issues with loss of communication exhibited with the VantagePro2 serial and usb interfaces.
  • Added support for up to 10 temperature and humidity sensors.
  • VantagePro2 Lock-up During Archive Download. This problem was solved by creating a seperate thread for the download function.
  • 3D Graphic Drivers Included on Installation Kit.
  • Foreign Language Support. This is a work in progress. You will see a window pop-up, but there are little changes to the software and does not include full language support, but we are working with translators.
  • Oslog.txt File too large. If you select Help Internet Status and File Log, you will see that there is an operating states log generated (if selected). This file allows us to troubleshoot issues and see if timeouts are occurring. However, this file was not being managed and would grow to a huge size, resulting in slow performance after several months. Virtual Weather Station will not delete this file every day at midnight to improve VWS performance.
  • The file for the calibration values has changed to reflect the new sensors, so if you have values in this calibration panel, write them down before installing. The Broadcast and Icon desktop displays will be slightly moved because their designated position has changed. No worries, simply move the images on your desktop back to their original position.
  • You will see references to the parameters THW and THWS, which are calculated for the VantagePro2. However, these parameters are not yet implemented. We are waiting for Davis to fix their latest DLL.
  • Fixed various issues related to CPU usage, lock-ups, memory usage and crashing.
  • Fixed issues with using Channel 1 and the outdoor temperature sensor for Oregon Scientific wireless weather stations.
  • Software now includes links to our FAQ and WeatherBlog.
  • Fixed issues with not launching default web browser.
  • Updated compiler to improve graphical interface support.
  • Changed look in the Spectrum and High / Low displays. There was an issue with some computers not supporting the Wingding font.
April 22, 2006, Version 12.08p11
  • The previous version was causing the Wunderground uploads to hang, so this version was quickly released. The problem was the Wunderground is getting very busy and causing timeouts. VWS would continue to attempt to upload data and it would keep timing out. This was fixed by putting the Wunderground in it's own thread independant of the other upload and download functions. If it times out, it stops trying to upload archive data.
  • The Wunderground uploads work exlusively off of the database records. Instead of setting a different schedule for Wunderground uploads, it now uses the same interval as the database.
  • VWS stops attempting to write to Wunderground if the Internet connection is lost.
  • There is a new feature that allows you to turn off the archived data upload. This is good for dial-up systems where you want to get on and off the Internet quickly. Otherwise, I would suggest turning on this feature for completeness.
April 21, 2006, Version 12.08p10
  • There was an issue with double reporting to Wunderground. This was caused by Virtual Weather Station using the time and date stamp for historical data from the weather station and the time and date stamp for real time updates from the computer clock. If a logging station was used (like Davis, Rainwise, WeatherHawk) it could result in two data entries and give you a saw tooth affect on the Wunderground display. This problem was solved.
  • The Weather Envoy and Vantage Pro and Pro2 console data logger would send a bad date and time but would not send an error message and VWS would treat this as a valid value. This was particularly a problem with the Envoy. Firmware upgrades could also cause corruption. The date and time would usually read the year 2047, so VWS now compares the computer clock to the console clock and if it is off by two years, it throws the data out.
  • There were crashing problems if more then 250 Mesonet stations were reported. The program now allows up to 1000 Mesonet reporting stations.
March 31, 2006, Version 12.08p09
  • Problem with 0% humidity reported during Heavy Weather history file download for WS2300 series fixed.
  • The software was not waiting for Heavy Weather to finish writing data from the history file download for the WS3600 series.
  • Fixed bug with Barometric Pressure for the last Heavy Weather download record.
March 30, 2006, Version 12.08p08
  • Added feature in the General Program Settings to Start Virtual Weather Station at Windows Start-up.
  • Fixed rain collector gain problem if using 0.2mm rain gauge for Davis Vantage Pro or Pro2. Make sure that this rain collector gain is selected under Settings | Vantage/WeatherLink settings. The calculated gain was off by 0.01 in / (0.2 mm / 25.4 mm/in) = 1.2711864
  • Fixed problem with the montly rain reading in stationless mode.
  • The WeatherHawk weather station was not calculating the uncorrected or raw barometric pressure properly. This is based on the altitude setting entered under WeatherHawk | Weatherhawk settings. This was also resulting in no data uploaded to Wunderground (the raw barometer was out of scale).
  • If you selected a schedule in the FTP Upload Directory, but did not enter a pathname in the file from location and file to location, it would upload everything from the root directory on your computer to the root directory on your server, which is not desirable. Therefore, if nothing is entered, it simply ignores the schedule.
  • Under some very specific circumstances, the humidity values will read 0% (this is usually due to communication error or non-archived temperature and humidity values for channels 1, 2 and 3 for the Davis Vantage Pro series). Virtual Weather Station will now throw out these zero values for the minimum reporting humidity (daily, monthly and yearly), since 0% humidity is not possible.
March 28, 2006, Version 12.08p07
  • Improved gathering of historical Heavy Weather data by checking for more historical data after Heavy Weather starts.
  • Gets the metric rainfall for Heavy Weather to improve resolution. Also gets the daily rainfall and updates properly from Heavy Weather.
  • Fixed bug with Barometric Pressure for the last Heavy Weather download record.
March 27, 2006, Version 12.08p06
  • In the event that the Heavy Weather executable path was not found, it would request this over and over - once is enough. Make sure the executable is called HeavyWeather.exe for the WS3600 series and heavy weather.exe for the WS2300 series.

March 26, 2006, Version 12.08p05
  • Fixed a problem with the date and time not updating with Version 12.08p04 for La Crosse weather stations.
  • Added historical import feature from Heavy Weather for La Crosse weather stations. This provides you with the complete archived data.
March 23, 2006, Version 12.08p04
  • Added Heavy Weather linked version back in (removed in Version 12.08p00) for the La Crosse WS2300 series because of issues many were having with the direct communication. This has also been implemented for the La Crosse WS3600 series. You must install Heavy Weather on your computer and browse to this location to read the currdat.1st file. I found the history.dat format, so I will be able to add archived data into the next version for Heavy Weather, which will insure your data is complete.
March 22, 2006, Version 12.08p03
  • There were issues with timing that would result in incorect wind gust data being sent to Wundeground if Rapid Fire was selected but the Wunderground update interval was turned off. Now, the wind gust calculation is reset in the event the rapid fire is turned on.
  • There was a problem with double entries for the same time if the archived data upload to Wunderground timed out.

March 14, 2006, Version 12.08p02
  • If the Wunderground archived data could not be updated (due to timeout or connection errors), VWS would reattempt to download this data during the next update cycle. This could cause the real-time data to be never updated. This version now attempts to download archived data once during start-up and if it could not be completed, starts to the real-time updates.
March 8, 2006, Version 12.08p01
  • Fixed problem with communication errors with the La Crosse Technolgy units introduced in the new V12.08p00 build. The software was sensitive to where the default directory was defined. The software also attempts many times to communicate to the console before posting an error and includes improved error messaging for troubleshooting communication issues.

March 7, 2006, Version 12.08p00
  • Virtual Weather Station now supports the La Crosse Technology WS-3600 and WS-3610.
  • La Crosse Technology WS-2300, WS-2310 and WS-2315 no longer require Heavy Weather to operate Virtual Weather Station. Direct communication protocal results in faster updates and downloads archive memory.
February 28, 2006
  • Changes were made to the Ambient Weather Server that will result in "dead link" images of the Ambient Weather logo and banner at the top of the HTML templates on your website. To fix this problem, edit the templates (for example, open the htx files in Notepad) and change every instance of www.ambientweatherstore.com to site.ambientweatherstore.com, or:
  • Download and update the latest templates.

February 17, 2006, Version 12.07p58
  • Fixed problem with temperature, heat index and dew point dropping out to zero.
  • Fixed another VWS crashing problem.
February 8, 2006, Version 12.07p56
  • Fixed problem with Daily Rain calculation in Wunderground Rapid Fire Function (see previous release for information on this function).
  • Virtual Weather Station now sends the maximum windspeed (gust) to Wunderground since the last update to make this data more complete.
  • Fixed a couple of VWS crashing problems.
January 27, 2006, Version 12.07p55
  • Added Weather Undergrounds new Rapid Fire update featuring real-time flash updates on the Weather Underground website. Select Wunderground | Sign-up for more information. Click on this example webpage (if our weather station is transfering data).
  • Added a download feature to Weather Underground so the data is complete. The software now checks the last time you updated to Wunderground and downloads all of the data in archive memory to prevent "holes" in the data.
  • Fixed UV scaling for Rainwise Weather Station.
